David and Sara Gottfried are just finishing a "deep-green" renovation of a 1915 Craftsman bungalow located in Oakland, California (Rockridge district). The home received its LEED for Homes Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council on November 7, 2008. It scored 106.5 points; 26.5 points over the 80 points required for Platinum for a small home (the highest score in the country).

"David is a personal hero of mine... he has always been the epitome of authentic green leadership. He leaves nothing to change and truly believes, as Kipling said, that he will be the change he wants to see in the world. This stunning achievement further illustrates his dedication to the health of his family, his community, our environment and the organization he founded." -- Rick Fedrizzi, Founding Chairman, President & CEO - U.S. Green Building Council.
